The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

Position Title: AMS Senior Programming & Events Coordinator
Reports to: Programming and Events Manager
Supervises: AMS Events Volunteers
Employee Status: Full-time, hourly
Hours: 28 – 37.5 hours per week (occasionally on weekends)
Length of term: until April 30, 2023
Position Purpose:
The Alma Mater Society of UBC is currently looking for a motivated, creative and organized student to fill the role of AMS Senior Programming & Events Coordinator. This position will work closely with Programming and Events Manager to help ensure the proper development and implementation of Events for the AMS. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in the development of culture on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conceptualizing, producing and executing new events with the help of other teammates.
- Developing new marketing strategies, and using social media to promote AMS Events and projects in collaboration with students clubs and external organizations.
- Develop and execute event strategies and plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Manage event registration, attendee lists, and post-event surveys
- Oversee on-site event execution
- Engage social media audiences by developing and managing accounts and content
- Support the Programming and Events Manager in the development, implementation and execution of events within the scope of AMS Events.
- Investigate the current and ever-changing interests of students in the UBC community and help source out appropriate and relevant programming for the AMS and the students it represents.
- Work closely with student clubs and campus groups to ensure Events are respectful to, and representative of, the diverse interests of students on the UBC campus.
- Build and nurture sponsor relationships to provide financial, as well as in kind, support for events.
- Provide excellent customer service through the establishment of a responsive, respectful, and positive environment.
- Working at the AMS Block Party on April 12 & 13 (this event must be worked)
- Assist with all outreach, marketing and building relationships with campus partners.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
- Must be a current UBC student
- Knowledge of the current interests of post-secondary students
- Willingness to work late hours on occasion
- Willingness to work long hours on occasion
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and produce results within a fast-paced work environment
- Proven interest in the planning and organization of events and/or programs for groups of various size and demographic
- Experience with sales or marketing efforts is an asset
- Positive attitude & responsive and customer service oriented
- Strong knowledge of social media applications
- Knowledge of diverse musical genres and interest in Vancouver arts & culture.
- Knowledge of computer software including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Wordpress and Adobe CC software.
