The Snowmaker is responsible for working as part of a team to open and maintain skiing terrain with the best possible snow that can be created. The Snowmaker must have a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Seasonal position from on or about November 1st to earlier of the end of the snowmaking season or February 15th. To be available on an on-call basis for start-ups during cold temperatures.

Responsibilities

- Be available to work 12-hour shifts on weekdays, weekends and holidays – day/night shifts. At times due to changing weather conditions, this will be on-call work and as such, the Club requires contact telephone numbers.

- Must be capable of lifting, pulling, and walking on uneven and slippery terrain.

- Operate various high-pressure air and water equipment in a safe, cautious and responsible manner, as per training and Club procedures/practices.

- Responsible for producing high quality snow through the use of air/water equipment. Must remain alert to changing weather conditions, e.g. temperature and wind or other weather.

- Attach hoses from snow equipment to nozzles of aboveground outlets for underground compressed air and water pipelines.

- Turn outlet valves to adjust compressed air and water mixture to obtain desired snow spray. Set and re-set snow guns (ground and tower guns).

- Reposition on-hill equipment periodically to direct snowfall to other sections of trail, or close valves to shut off equipment when snow coverage is completed.

- Return defective or frozen snow equipment to shop for repair or thawing, using snowmobile. Tag out/lockout as required.

- Operate various types of motorized equipment on and off the hill (snowmobiles and utility vehicles – subject to authorization by your Supervisor).

- Responsible for completing daily circle check logs when operating Club equipment, i.e. snowmobiles, utility vehicles, etc.

- Perform other maintenance duties as required.

- Responsible for completing various snowmaking systems logs accurately, neatly and in the prescribed manner.

- Notify your supervisor immediately of any unsafe, unusual, or abnormal situations or incidents in your work area or elsewhere at the Club.

- Work closely with and assist other departments such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, Hill Marshall, and Lift Operations.

- Always be aware of the safety of members, guests, snowmaking team members and other employees.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or vocational training

- Snowmaking equipment experience would be an asset

- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean abstract

- Familiar with using PCL and VFD’s

- Ability to operate heavy equipment would be an asset

- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and must be physically fit and be able to perform in physically demanding activities

- Must be comfortable working from heights e.g. ladders on roofs

- Flexible, adaptable and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities

- Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills

- Possess professional maturity and impeccable integrity

- Must be able to work alone without direct supervision

- Must be able to work in all types of weather e.g., cold, ice, snow, heat, rain, wind

Pay will be based on experience.
