Software Architect

Location – Open (Canada)

Reports to – VP, Software Development

Quorum is currently looking for a Software Architect to join our growing team.

Under the direction of the VP, Software Development and in collaboration with the Director, Software Development, the Software Architect role will primarily be responsible for overseeing the development team and leading the full lifecycle of software development activities of Quorum Information Technologies Inc. This position will provide leadership to technology teams to create, develop and launch forward-looking products and will assist in the establishment and maintenance of coding standards and guidelines. The Software Architect must be proficient in Cloud infrastructure, modern programming languages and patterns, and SQL/No-SQL databases.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the Architecture team and collaborate with technical leads across the development teams
• Develop, own, manage, and communicate the technology roadmap for Quorum’s software suite to build a scalable and resilient cloud-based mobile and web-based system on Azure and AWS
• Prioritize the technical backlog in collaboration with the development teams
• Manages and owns 3rd party software components licensing and compliance
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to the development teams and external partners to create, develop and launch forward looking products
• Contribute to coding best practices standards within the development organization
• Establish C4 diagram and architectural artifact libraries
• Design and code proof of concept artifacts as needed
• Develops and document designs that contribute to the automation, performance, maintenance, and monitoring of Quorum’s platforms
• Ensure that proposed solutions integrate well with generic functionalities and identify functionality gaps
• Actively participate in the definition of migration paths for legacy systems integrations
• Perform code and system design reviews
• As a part of the Development Leadership Team, work with the infrastructure and development leaders, as well as with Product leadership to align goals and targets
• Lead and develop the future architecture team members

Qualifications & Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in software architecture design in modern programming stacks and databases
• Proven track record of cloud-based complex, scalable, and resilient systems design
• Able to work both independently and in a team
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical staff
• Preferred: experience with .NET, TypeScript, Node.JS, SQL Server, No-SQL
• Able to prioritize and manage competing demands / deadlines
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Up-to-date knowledge of latest technologies
• Strong understanding and extensive experience with best-in-class building blocks and infrastructure selection
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and / or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
