Background
CADTH is Canada’s drug and health technology agency. We’re a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Ottawa, with a satellite office in Toronto. We’re funded by Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial governments to provide independent information and advice to the country’s publicly funded health care systems. Health administrators and policy experts rely on CADTH to inform their decisions about the funding and appropriate use of the drugs, devices, and services used to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.

Most CADTH employees participate in a hybrid workspace arrangement that allows for flexibility and enhanced work-life balance. CADTH believes in the positive impact of in-person collaboration and the importance of team building. Primary Focus
The guidance, and skills of the individual who assumes this role will be critical in helping to advance the way we think about and address inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility at CADTH. The new role was designed to create space for change. To create dedicated expertise to work with and listen closely to underrepresented communities and organizations of various size and reach to develop, implement, evaluate, an organization wide Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) strategy.

On any given day, the Strategic Partner, IDEA will:

  • Guide, with internal and external engagement and input, the development and implementation of an organization-wide IDEA strategy that includes short, medium, and long-term goals, key performance indicators, action plans and metrics to assess and track progress over time.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the design, planning and execution of strategic IDEA initiatives and activities, including employee interest groups, guiding and creating development plans in the areas of IDEA using the best available evidence, best practice and continues improvement.
  • Provide inclusive change management at CADTH to transform our strategies, policies and processes and ensure the associated foundational principles are equitable and accessible.
  • Partner with the People and Culture team and serve as a subject matter expert and liaison to develop strategic action to attract, develop and retain diverse talent and conduct a training and awareness needs assessment to inform educational opportunities.
  • Partner with the Communications and Marketing and other teams across the organization to support consistent language and messaging about CADTH’s commitment and work to address IDEA both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Strategic Partner, Indigenous Engagement and Partnerships to address issues where shared understanding and shared learnings would be advantageous across roles.

Is this the right role for you?

The Strategic Partner, IDEA will likely have:

  • Progressive experience and demonstrated effectiveness leading Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility related initiatives and programs, ideally at a provincial, pan-Canadian or national health system or organization.
  • Related experience facilitating and managing consultation processes involving a wide range of groups, including diverse community and organizational representatives, to build and grow engagement.
  • Lived and/or substantial related work experience will be given similar weighting to post-secondary education, ideally at the level of a master’s degree, in health policy, human resources, social work, social justice, sociology or related area.
  • Experience and awareness with laws and regulations pertaining to equal employment opportunity, provincial employment, AODA, and human rights legislation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships while providing solution-based guidance and may have already established a network of leaders and experts in this space that will allow for ongoing reciprocal support and information sharing.
  • Ability to garner trust and build effective relationships while also being open, transparent, and approachable.
  • Knowledge of current literature or current work on cultural safety.
  • Critical and conceptual thinking with experience researching and reviewing emerging issues and trends in the IDEA space and able to make recommendations for management and stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and challenge while showing confidentiality, tact, and respect, at every level of the organization.
