Supply Chain Execution Director - Canada Job at Microsoft

We are responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Within CO+I, the Global Supply Chain team is responsible for establishing a supply chain that can meet the ever-growing growth of the Cloud and our customers. We support a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Furthermore, we support the Operations team that manages and runs the cloud assets. We are looking to fill the critical role of Special Project Contracts Manager on our Supply Chain team.
This position can be remote but would ideally be serviced from Toronto or Quebec. This role will report to MSFT’s Regional Supply Chain Director.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Lead supply chain execution representative for Microsoft CO+I in Canada. Responsible for the procurement of all services (general contractor, consultants, design firms, etc.) as well as long lead equipment for multiple data center builds in the Canada metro.
- Continuous Improvement: Always seek ways to streamline, automate, and simplify processes; includes deployment of tools, using data analytics and working with IT groups to define system requirements.
- Procurement Planning: Implement procurement plans to effectively deliver against project goals on budget.
- Negotiation: Implement appropriate negotiation strategies for the scope.
- Supplier Selection: Participate in supplier selection and performance management; ensure alignment to Microsoft business goals throughout.
- Contracting: Understand industry contracting norms and Microsoft contracting requirements; participate in negotiation of contracts that meet business goals.
- Contract Oversight: Monitor key elements of supplier performance to contracted requirements; implement corrective action and lessons learned.
- Project Management: Develop and implement plans to effectively deliver goods and services on time and within specifications while managing risk.
- Vendor Management: Develop and implement plans and resources to help support the build program in Canada from a supply chain perspective. This will involve the selection and on-boarding of consultant firms locally in Canada.

- Internal: Engineering, construction, cost management, category management, finance, safety, legal, scheduling, end to end project management, integration, risk management and other groups as needed.
- External: Contractors, consultants, suppliers, and industry groups.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or supply chain field; Masters preferred
- 10+ years’ post graduate experience in supply chain/ procurement including AE, GC/trades, long lead equipment, construction services, or operations services.
- 5+ years of experience in the construction market
- 3+ years of experience in large scale mission critical projects (Wafer Fab, Pharma, Data Center, Healthcare, etc.)
- Proficiency and experience with various procurement methodologies and sourcing techniques
- Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Experience in managing and leading a team (at least 2/3 direct reports)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with diverse groups across various organizational levels
- Ability to implement new processes and get buy in from a cross-functional stakeholders
- Proven track record in creating clarity, generating energy and delivering success; while constantly planning for the future
- Have high integrity – must be ethical and strong value-based individual focused on fairness and maintaining confidentiality
- Fluent in English
Additional/Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent in French
- Familiarity with data center construction build projects
- Technical ability to write contracts, ability to set up sourcing plans, negotiation strategies and execute against same.
- Familiarity with common process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) and ability to facilitate change management.
- Able to identify and implement opportunities that reduce cost and/or cycle time.
- Bring high energy – a drive to achieve results in midst of ambiguity and a matrix organization.
- Be a high performer – be able to fit the Microsoft “culture” by effectively multi-tasking and managing priorities; have a “sense of urgency” regarding issue resolution.
- Understand the importance of relationships inside the company and with our supply chain partners.
