We are seeking a full-time Fabrication Team Lead with superior leadership and teamwork skills for our Mon-Thu 2:30pm-1:00am shift at our New Brunswick facility. Accountabilities
People
- Foster an environment where people feel welcomed, appreciated, and essential team members.
- Ensure every team member has the knowledge and training required to safely perform the work according to Systemair and the clients’ standards.
- Promote positive communication and respect between team members to help create a culture of collaboration and support.
Material
- Communicate the production schedule to their team to ensure they have a good understanding of how the day will unfold.
- Ensure the production area is set up with the required material according to the product specifications. The same applies to every product change.
- Ensure every working station in the production area has the material and the tools required before starting the operations.
- Address or communicate in a timely manner any issues with material and tools to avoid production delays.
Time Management
- Ensure their team members are present and ready to start working at the prescribed time.
- Organize their time and the time of their team in a way that will prevent operation stoppage and delays.
- Report the daily attendance issues to the manager as prescribed.
Product Management
- Ensure the daily production targets are communicated in advance to the team and met.
- Ensure the product being assembled meets all the specifications and quality standards.
- Report any operation problems that they can’t fix on their own in order to minimize down time, quality and productivity issues.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Organize daily production activities and complete daily staff log of employees;
- Train or organize training for employees and ensure they have the proper tools;
- Ensure employees have a safe and clean work environment;
- Ensure trained employees perform maintenance properly;
- Ensure employees are wearing proper PPE and following Health & Safety procedures;
- Understand basic M3 applications;
- Verify that material is available before starting manufacturing order as well as releasing picklists for material handlers;
- Calculate daily goals and report results to Division Manager;
- Ensure employees build the products based on work instructions (Drawings, BOM, Dozuki) and report quality or design issues;
- Report manufacturing orders and any stock adjustments due to waste, damage, defective material or shop order inconsistencies;
- Report incidents and near misses in TIA, complete investigation and follow-up actions;
- Perform weekly safety talks and safety contacts;
- Report any unacceptable employee behavior to Division Manager and/or Supervisor;
- Communicate management updates to employees;
- Take part in continuous improvement activities;
Qualifications
- Some high school education, minimum of grade 9 completion;
- Communicate clearly and effectively with others;
- Independent and versatile to act as team lead in any production area;
- Previous supervisory experience is definitely an asset along with any related training;
- Able to work proficiently in a team oriented setting;
- Able to work overtime if needed.
