As a Track Maintainer, you will work under the direction of the Track Supervisor and perform heavy manual work involving the routine maintenance and inspections of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) right-of-ways. Primary duties include:

Perform maintenance on the track and right-of-way as required by: cleaning switches and tracks; greasing/lubricating tracks, as required; changing or replacing track or track components; and monitoring track for wear or damages.

Inspect track infrastructure.

Operate various vehicles/equipment as necessary, such as: forklifts, cranes, hi-rail equipment and track sweeper.

Maintain tools and equipment required to perform assigned work.

Ensure cleanliness of right-of-way is upheld, and that safe working conditions are maintained in the work area.

Participate in health and safety meetings and work groups, ensuring that any defective equipment is reported promptly.
Qualifications
- Completion of some High School courses (including Grade 10 English and Math).

At least 1 year of directly related Track Maintenance and/or Track Constriction experience.

Applicants must be capable of obtaining the necessary certification to operate all equipment required by this position. Adherence to safety regulations, Rail Operations Rule Book and established procedures of the work unit is required.

Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit .

A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.

The ability to obtain a Class 3 Licence is required.

Previous Calgary Transit Track & Way experience is considered an asset.

The successful applicant must demonstrate sound judgement in safety standards, strong communication skills, and the ability to follow direction and work effectively in a challenging environment.
Working Conditions: This position requires heavy physical work to be performed in all weather conditions. Manual work involves lifting and positioning of heavy materials and the operation of specialized power tools/equipment. The exercise of due caution when operating or working around the catenary is necessary.
