The goal of this position is to lead, manage, and better the preventative maintenance and repair program of the intermodal chassis fleet for P&W Intermodal/Gusgo - a division of TFI International.

This is to be accomplished through managing and mentoring mechanics, technicians and vendors, through a strong vision, team-based approach, and a thirst for positive change.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the equipment garage
• Guide and mentor mechanics and technicians on the floor to repair equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively
• Strong leadership skills with ability to teach in a TEAM environment
• Learn and use knowledge of repairing trailers to recommend and oversee cost effective and timely repairs for fleets
• Putting the right person on the right job
• Maintain and monitor tire program and performance
• Monitor parts and tires stock and arrange daily orders with vendors as required
• Work with Equipment Supervisor to ensure preventative maintenance listings, retorque lists are accurate and followed
• Scheduling work to ensure team and vendors are meeting work order requirements
• Book third party vendors for work on fleet units where applicable
• Maintain shop and the equipment inside - cleanliness is vital to a safe and efficient shop

• Communicate with trucking and terminal operations timely and effectively through phone, email and in person.
• Arrange yard checks for equipment to service
• Monitor and delegate inventory counts to maintain an effective inventory level
• Review and complete accident incidents/reports as needed
• Worth with suppliers / vendors for warranty issues as they arise
• Perform small repairs to terminal/shop as necessary
• Work with admin to ensure mechanics and technicians are compensated correctly and accurately
• Contribute to building the best team possible - hiring and terminating accordingly with admin support.
