About the position
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Transportation Planner is responsible for arranging the transportation of all inbound, outbound, direct and stock transfer orders.
What you’ll do:
- Manages a portfolio of carriers to arrange the transportation of all inbound, outbound, direct, or stock transfer orders.
- Responsible for safe, efficient, legal & economical operation of all transportation activities.
- Responsible for meeting customer delivery requirements in a cost-effective manner.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders (vendors, carriers) to communicate requirements.
- Use and maintain SAP Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize common carrier, dedicated fleet and private fleet freight orders.
- Work with local plants on capacity planning and special requirements.
- Support EHS & Sales regarding compliance, health, safety and environmental affairs.
- Assist internal stakeholders on corrective actions related to missed deliveries, incidents and capacity, determining root cause and establishing preventative actions.
- Reconcile freight expense variances.
- Other tasks as assigned.
What you’ll need:
- Post-secondary degree or 2 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
- Able to work independently, manage priorities, and take on new tasks
- Proficiency in MS office applications
