YWCA Crabtree Corner Housing Job at YWCA Metro Vancouver
YWCA Crabtree Corner Transitional Housing offers a supportive housing community for 12 pregnant and/or parenting women in recovery who are working on maintaining, or regaining custody of their children.
The Group Facilitator plans and facilitates weekly groups for residents, including Mentorship, Financial Literacy and Arts and Crafts groups. She also provides support work when not actively engaged in preparing and delivering groups.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule, organize and facilitate Financial Literacy Groups for tenants (once a week, September to December)
- Recruit former residents to be mentors to current residents (November /December)
- Create/update training materials for Mentors
- Schedule, organize and facilitate Mentors training (January)
- Schedule, organize and facilitate Mentorship groups for tenants (once a week, February to June)
- Schedule, organize and facilitate group Arts and Crafts activities for tenants (Saturdays, weekly, year round)
- Connect with relevant internal and external speakers for groups
- Order nutritious meals for Financial Literacy and Mentorship groups
- Schedule child minders for Financial Literacy and Mentorship groups
- Manage group budgets including provision of honorariums to mentors, child minders and speakers
- Maintain accurate statistic of groups participation
- Provide emotional support, information, and referrals to residents who are pregnant or new mothers and in recovery
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong de-escalation skills
- Experience working with women who have substance use issues
- Good understanding of harm reduction principles
- A trauma-informed, intersectional, feminist approach to working with residents
- Experience in facilitating group meetings
- Appropriate boundaries
- Organized, with good time-management skills
- Team player
- Able to work independently
- Experience and comfort using Outlook, One Drive, Sharepoint, Teams, Zoom, Safetyline and ADP Workforce Now would be an asset
- Positive criminal record check clearance
- Successful applicants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, exemption requests must be supported by valid, legal documents.
