Introduction

We are seeking individuals to conduct new home inspections who can be described as diligent, honest and interested in learning more about the construction industry. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of construction sites in Southern Ontario, interacting with our builder partners, new home buyers and a range of trades people. Once trained, we offer the ability to develop and work within various roles with FCCP.

FCCP is a diverse group of subcontractors working together to provide an excellent customer experience.
Some of the advantages of subcontract work include: setting your own hours and writing off portions of your expenses such as fuel, cell plan, & your home office. Contractors will need to provide their own tools for the work, such as a tablet, mobile phone, personal protective equipment & miscellaneous inspection supplies. FCCP provides paid training and reference resources to all subcontractors.

Work Description

As a New Home Inspector, subcontractors will be responsible to attend scheduled appointments, conduct new home inspections and capture appropriate media. Additionally, they will be responsible for completing and transmitting all relevant paperwork and to follow up with FCCP and/or FCCP clients.

A Pre-Delivery Inspection is a new home inspection offered by the builder and mandated by the Tarion
Warranty, where the homeowner has the opportunity to view their new purchase for the first time. Inspectors would be required to walk with homeowners through the home room by room, while orienting the homeowner as to the function and maintenance requirements for the various mechanical and environmental systems of the home.

Inspectors will also be documenting any deficiencies or imperfections found in the home, as outlined by industry guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Administration:

  • Provide availability for work, and attend scheduled appointments
  • Remain current on all correspondence required to complete the work.
  • Keep up to date with site related Health & Safety requirements

● Inspections:

  • Pre-inspect homes (where applicable) to be prepared for formal inspections
  • Attend new home inspections
  • Educate homeowners
  • Record all relevant inspection details and complete required paperwork and media submission

● Follow-up:

  • Be available to speak with FCCP, their clients or their client’s representatives after an inspection to discuss the specifics
  • Meet regularly with FCCP or their Clients to discuss project progress

Essential Skills

An ideal candidate will have:

● Excellent Interpersonal Skills: A high level of confidence and emotional intelligence is needed to earn the trust and respect of the Clients and their homeowners.

● Excellent Computer Skills: An inspector will need to be able to quickly learn and adapt to proprietary software, in addition to MS Office, Google Suite, Windows, Android and Apple tablets.

● The ability to Multitask: An inspector must be able to balance the needs of the homeowner with the delivery of information while at the same time diligently and accurately recording deficiencies.

● The ability to learn industry knowledge: Specifically, a good understanding of the home construction process and the Tarion warranty process.

● Organizational & time management skills: Most inspections need to be completed in a set amount of time, while still reviewing all areas of the home and conveying all essential information.

● The ability to travel to the work site, preference to applicants that have their own transportation

Salary: $35,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
