About the Company

The Maritime Centre for African Dance (MCAD), formed in 2005, is an organization dedicated to teaching, sharing, and promoting African Culture through the art of dance, to youth and adults across Nova Scotia and Canada. To date, MCAD has taught well over 20000 children and adults in schools, community centers, camps, and programs. This number is ever-increasing. This organization was formed out of a necessity for the lack of cultural representation in the form of traditional dance in Nova Scotia. It is a collective of different individuals from Africa who are trained in traditional dance and range from the South, North, West and East of Africa.

Summary

We are looking for enthusiastic and tech savvy social media manager to work with MCAD Brands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring that the content posted reflects MCAD’s MISSION and VISION statement.
• RESEARCHING content from other platforms
• Having weekly meetings, or as needed with Management
• Writing reports after EVERY shift, with no exceptions
• Following up to ensure that CONTENT is posted according to discussions, reviews, and discussions with Management.
• Marketing MCAD and its products on those specific pages
• Suggesting content on the pages
• Email account will be provided to communicate from. No business content can be shared.

SKILLS:

• You have a passion and intellectual curiosity for social media, mobile and digital emerging / converging technologies, you keep abreast of the latest industry news, vendors and are savvy on social media marketing best practices.
• You have proven excellent communication skills and are empathetic and patient when dealing with difficult situations.
• You must be a detail-oriented multitasker with the ability to lead several projects at once while still delivering the best work quality to the client.
• You have the ability to develop & execute social media strategies that are aligned with the client’s business goals.
• Proven experience interfacing directly with the client via phone or in-person meetings.
• In social media, as this is very much a people’s business, we are sometimes faced with difficult moments & interactions. It is important that you can have a positive outlook on the situations that you are faced with and to always take pride in the quality of work produced.
• You work in a team workload environment. Mutual support outside of defied workload is expected.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 10 per week

Salary: $15.00 per hour
